The first thing one notices upon entering Summer's Gate is the deep warmth that seems to emanate from within. The high vaulted ceiling has sky lights lending daytime illumination to the hall that is already graced with multitudes of candles. Straight ahead of the entrance is the Eiluned Banner, behind which is hidden a doorway that leads to a labyrinth of guest and private chambers, including the personal rooms of the Baron and Baroness. To the left is a baronial hearth, where in the Summer months a great Balefire burns. The Banner of Baywood stretches above. Other light is provided by candelabras which burn bright beside the Summer Throne, which is placed to the right of the Balefire, mere inches higher than its Winter mate. This Summer Throne is alive with vines and dark roses, the wood of the richest oak. Winter's Throne to the left of the Balefire and lower, is a cold replica of stone, nearly emanating frost. Benches and tables line the walls to the Summer Hall, pulled out in times of feast. Around these are set a variety of plants in high stands, low-seated pots and widow-boxes, lending the feeling of a garden throughout the year. To the right lies the kitchen, with scents flowing to tantalize even the most finicky eater. Hidden in the far-left corner of Summer's Gate is a trap door, which leads downward, separating Summer from Winter.
