Rules of Play

In order to assure that roleplay in these chat rooms are enjoyable for all, I ask that the following policies be observed.

• These chats are intended principally for IC (in-character) play. When they are not otherwise occupied, OOC (out-of-character) conversation is certainly permitted. But if someone comes in and wishes to run an IC scene, kindly respect their right to do so, and move the OOC conversation elsewhere. If there is call for it, I will add an OOC chatroom.
• In any event, insulting, threatening or harrassing OOC posts to players IC or OOC are poor form, and have no place here. Just don't do it.
• This is a House Fiona county, and romance is encouraged. However, all of these chats are set in public places, so gratuitously descriptive posts of sexual acts are prohibited.

• The County of Rowan-Oak is under noble rulership. This means that the only legal recourse which characters have is to the presiding noble lords. In Baywood, this means Lady Celeste or Lord Dar'Nall. Their players are responsible for their rulings. Elsewhere, the nobles are non-player characters played by myself. Baronial rulings may be appealed to the countess. Rosamund's decisions may be appealed to Evelenau ap Eiluned, the Duchess of Rhododendrons, also played by myself. King Meilge will not hear appeals from Rowan-Oak, due to prevailing political considerations. Likewise, the High Court of Tara-Nar will not hear appeals. The duchess is effectively the highest court of appeal. Email me to arrange a meeting with Her Grace.
• This is a Changeling website. Dramatic play is encouraged. Describe your bunks and cantrips. Respect kith Birthrights, such as sidhe awe and noble bearing, and remember that with the exception of the Kettle, these are places of the Dreaming. Banal preoccupations should be left at the door.
• Corollary to the previous, this site is really not ideal for playing other denizens of the World of Darkness. Freeholds are presumed uninteresting and/or inaccessible to mortals, and to be "under the radar" of such forces of Banality as the Technocracy. Storyteller (that is to say my own) approval is required before you may play vampires, mages, mummies, werewolves, wraiths, fomori, hunters, Dauntain, etc. Ask, I'll think about it, and we'll take it from there.
• I will occasionally act as Storyteller, although most play will be unmoderated. When I am Storyteller, my decisions are final. I have reserved the handle "Story_ap_Teller" with a plush pass so you'll know it's the real me.
• In my absence, I have given my siblings (the players of the satyr Daphnae, the sluagh Oswald Spuklisch, the kinain Lady Jane Marlow, amongst others) authority to moderate play. They share access with me to the [email protected] mail account, as well as access to the files on this site. Please give them your cooperation, especially as they are less familiar with all the intricacies of the rules than I.

Remember that this is not a public site -- I maintain it, and I reserve the right to arbitrate and settle matters here. I have never had to ask anyone not to return to Rowan-Oak. Please don't be the first.
