Known for their elegance and sophistication, nobles of House Leanhaun are seldom found far from wherever mortal artists gather. Of the houses of the Unseelie Court, the House of the Rose is the most closely associated with human Dreamers, whose unbridled creativity is the only known cure for the unnatural aging which afflicts Leanhaun's house. This dependence upon art and artists has made the nobles of House Leanhaun adept at searching out the most talented of Dreamers, a service they occasionally perform for other households. They seem especially gifted at finding those artists whose talents burn too brightly for the Autumn World, but seem poweless to prevent Banality from extinguishing the creative spark that gutters all too quickly in the best and the brightest. House Leanhaun's considerable elegance and charm are touched always by a pervasive sorrow for the fate of those they could not save.
The House of the Rose did not involve itself in the conflict to restore noble rule, and hence few commoners have any particular axe to grind with its members. The rose and harp badge of House Leanhaun has seldom been seen in Rowan-Oak, although a few of the older grumps recall how for a brief while in the early Seventies the Barony of Baywood blossomed under a revival of Bluegrass and Mountain Music. They will certainly recall the incandescent talent of Jimmy Rae Davis, whose music on fiddle and mandolin has never been surpassed. They might even wonder what has become of his sidhe patron (and some say lover), Lady Camillia ap Leanhaun, who left Baywood shortly after Davis began his sharp decline into alcoholism and depression leading to his death by overdose in 1975. That was the beginning of the end of an era for Baywood. Less than a year later, taxed for more Glamour than it could sustain, the balefire at Baywood guttered and went out.
The long-forsaken barony has only lately been reclaimed. Many kithain of the county watch hopefully for a sign that the music and magic will return with the touch of Glamour on the mortal communities around Galax. Perhaps when it does, nobles of House Leanhaun will once again come to Rowan-Oak with their inimitable gracefulness and yearning for mortal dreams.
Kithain outside of Leanhaun's house are not aware just how dependent upon mortal Dreamers its members have become. It would darken the reputation of this house past tolerance were it known that their insatiable hungers inevitably destroy the Dreamers who sustain them against ruinous age. Nobles of House Leanhaun must use all of their considerable guile and charm to allay the suspicions of other fae.
Boon
Members of House Leanhaun acquire an extra point of Charisma, even if this raises the Attribute above 5. Also, all Seduction rolls are made at a difficulty reduced by one, and cannot be botched.
Flaw
Because of an ancient curse upon their house, nobles of House Leanhaun age rapidly. Those who do not engage in the forbidden practice of Rhapsody once per month age one year for each week beyond this time that they avoid this predatory epiphany, which robs the Dreamer it is enacted upon of the ability ever to create anything of any merit again. Rhapsody is a violation of the Right to Dream as set down in the Escheat and is severely punished where it is discovered.
Quote: "I have always maintained that the only tolerable soul in Baywood - I mean the old Baywood, of course - was that poor, dear Lady Camillia. Such a shame how that mortal boy of hers declined. I can't blame her for leaving, but I do wonder what has become of her. She was always very considerate of my feelings, which is more than can be said of some people."
