As secretary to Rosie Mondie in the Department of Theater Arts at Blackstone University, Jane Marlow has enjoyed a comeraderie with the professor for years. Indeed, Jane relocated to Blackstone from Ohio when Rosie took her job at the university, as much out of friendship as for any other motive.
It is a good thing that she did, for when the professor was completely dispirited one day, following an especially tedious meeting of the Faculty Tenure Review Commitee, Jane took the time to sit with Rosie, making her favorite tea and humming a folktune which she had often heard the professor sing while she was happy. The spark of Glamour conveyed unwittingly by Jane's kindness was enough to rouse the eccentric professor from her disturbing apathy. Indeed, it did a great deal more for her than that.
What Jane could not have known was that the professor was in truth a changeling, Countess Rosamund of Rowan-Oak, and that Jane herself had just saved her from forgetting her faerie nature. Having realized years ago that Jane had a trace of the old blood herself, the Countess now made the sort of spontaneous decision for which she is notorious, Enchanting Jane on the spot and initiating her into the secrets of the kithain world.
If she was surprised by this, she was also delighted, for here at last was that elusive something for which she had sought all her life, never knowing she was seeking. And before she knew quite what was happening, the countess had called her chief vassals together to witness the accolade by which she conferred upon her kinain friend the estate of knighthood.
Lady Jane now serves as Countess Rosamunds trusted factotum, handling many concerns in the mortal world which are to dangerously Banal for Rosamund's direct attention. Her duties are not confined to the mundane, however, as Rosamund has chosen Lady Jane to represent her to other dememses and households, keeping the countess abreast of news and discreetly monitoring the welfare of the satyr heir to the county, Almond. Lady Jane has accepted these tasks willingly, and is becoming a familiar face at the Freeholds of EverWyrd Hall and New Agengard, where she has been warmly received.
Treasures: For her protection while enchanted, Lady Jane carries a pair of chimerical dueling pistols of nocker make. While they resemble the ornate wheel-lock pistols of the Seventeeth Century, they function as well as any modern firearm. Lady Jane is proficient, if not adept, with these.
