Her Grace Evelenau ap Eiluned
the Duchess of Rhododendrons

Little is known with certainty regarding the Duchess Evelenau. That she is of Eiluned's House and a most potent sorceress is not disputed, and she certainly maintains the outward forms of Seelie rule. She takes no seeming interest in concerns beyond her borders, and discourages casual visits even from her own vassal-lords. The full-moon device of her court is seldom seen beyond her own household except in the form of her ducal signet affixed to the infrequent writ or decree.

Few fae in the county can claim acquaintance with the Duchess of Rhododendrons, and few beyond her own domains have heard of Her Grace at all. Some speculate that her duchy is ignored as a sign of the king's disfavor. Others say to the contrary that the Duchess Evelenau has withdrawn from society in order to deny her open support to the king. Most rumors agree, however, that relations between the duchy and Willow's Heart are strained at best. In any event, envoys of the Willow King are seldom seen in Rhododendrons.

In the mortal world, the duchess is known as Mrs. Evelyn Rhys-Morgan, a wealthy widow who contributes to various charities and serves as a trustee on the board of a number of quietly prestigious institutions. Mrs. Rhys-Morgan only rarely makes an appearance even at private social functions. Her beauty is nevertheless legendary, if seldom seen.

Those few kithain who can claim to have seen Her Grace only confirm this reputation. Although she has ruled her duchy for nearly thirty years, her stoic features betray few signs of age, and her night-dark hair shows not so much as a strand of silver. The Duchess Evelenau carries herself with regal grace, and seems almost to glow with an aura of power. Some say she employs secret Arts of Glamour to preserve her youth. Others whisper that her shadow takes on strange shapes, and has been observed to move of its own accord while she herself is still.
