Elsewhere

Kithain are caught between two worlds, the Enchanted and the mundane. While the temptation to avoid the humdrum and day-to-day is strong, changelings need to spend time in the mortal world as well, lest they fall into Bedlam.

Southwestern Virginia offers a variety of potential settings, from the forests and farms of the backwoods to the campus lecture-halls of Blackstone University and the streets and dives of Roanoke and Salem. It would be impossible to describe all of these, and even moreso to provide each with an individual chat setting, hence this compromise.

Elsewhere is meant to be just that, a chat setting for all the other locations in the mundane world that changelings might go. As a rule, assume that scenes played in Elsewhere have mortal witnesses, requiring kithain to exercise discretion to maintain the Right of Ignorance, as required by the Escheat.

Some suggested settings around the region are:

• Blackstone University - the mundane setting for the Countess' court. Classrooms, library, labs, offices, cafeteria and the quad are all potential settings.


• Main Street, town of Floyd - The Blue Ridge Cafe, Cochrane's General Store, the coin-op laundry and other businesses line the strip on either side of the Floyd County Courthouse and the only stoplight for thirty miles in any direction.


• Roanoke - the only true city in the region, offering everything from museums and a zoo to seedy nighclubs, restaurants, the weekly Southwestern Virginia Farmers' Market, and the local Greyhound Bus terminal (for those hard-core Bedlam cures).


• New River Valley Mall - what more is there to say? Multi-screen cinema, food court, comfortless benches, and shopping of all sorts from KayBee Toys to Victoria's Secret.
